After a lengthy break, The Cromar Folk Club resumes tomorrow (Friday).
This month’s guest will be traditional singer, Shona Donaldson.
Shona, originally from Huntly but now living in Tarland, is a traditional singer with the majority of her songs coming from the North-east of Scotland.
In 2003/2004 she was a finalist in The BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year and in 2006 was in the finals of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards.
Performance highlights include playing in Toronto for the Scottish Government, Dublin, Denmark, Norway, Germany, London, and Holyrood for Charles and Camilla.
Shona has just completed a year-long residency in Huntly for arts organisation Deveron Arts as Singer in Residence.
During her time, she has written new songs and tunes and these have been recorded on her new CD ‘Short Nichts and Lang Kisses’ which was released during April 2011.
The Cromar Folk Club meets on the last Friday of every month in The Aberdeen Arms in Tarland. Tickets at £5 on the door and all singers, musicians and listeners are very welcome.
