PETERCULTER schoolgirl Sophie Taylor was the lucky Dons supporter to unveil Aberdeen Football Club’s new mascot for the Merkland Family Stand, Si the Seagull.
Sophie Taylor, a primary school pupil from Peterculter, was chosen at random to unveil the mascot at the home game against Hearts.
The launch of the giant seagull marks the continued sponsorship of Pittodrie’s Family Stand by Simmons and Company.
Sophie (9), who attends Culter Primary School, has supported Aberdeen FC for five years and has attended matches for four seasons.
She joins her dad, Brian, a lifelong supporter who originally got her into the beautiful game, at every match.
At half time, Sophie ran on to the pitch with Si the Seagull in front of thousands of Aberdeen and Hearts fans. She also had the opportunity to meet the players after the game, a dream she never thought would come true.
Before the match, Sophie said: “I’m really excited about running on the pitch with the new mascot. I’ll be nervous, but my Mum, Dad and brother Ryan will be there to cheer me on.”
