Acclaimed Glasgow-based band Sparrow and the Workshop headline the latest instalment of Woodend Barn’s newly-established band night, Deliverance, on Saturday 23 June.
The three-piece group consists of Belfast-born, Chicago-raised Jill O’Sullivan (vocals, acoustic guitar), Welshman Nick Packer (guitar/bass) and Scotsman Gregor Donaldson (drums, vocals).
Sparrow and the Workshop have released two critically acclaimed studio albums and are
known for their use of harmonies and modified instruments and FX pedals. They have been compared to bands as varied as Jefferson Airplane, Talking Heads and Black Sabbath.
Woodend Barn’s Deliverance strand aims to bring high quality, new and established bands normally seen in the big cities to rural Aberdeenshire, and builds on its existing programme of contemporary music which has featured high-profile artists including King Creosote, Karine Polwart and Laura Marling.
Support comes from Aberdeen “mindie” rockers Min Diesel.
Doors open at 7.30pm, first band on stage at 8pm.
