Tesla has confirmed its attendance at Grampian Transport Museum’s SpeedFest on Sunday, June 5, with its 2011 Roadster Sport electric supercar.
Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by a group of Silicon Valley engineers, who set out to prove that electric vehicles could be awesome.
This British-built performance car has been proving itself as the 21st century sports car throughout the world since full production began in 2008. The 1700 Tesla owners around the world have collectively travelled over 10,000,000 electric miles in their cars. The Tesla Roadster accelerates from 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds and travels 211 miles between charges. Its appearance at SpeedFest will be the first public showing in the North of Scotland and the car will participate in track events.
Tesla UK’s sales and marketing director, Gian Avignone, will introduce the car to the North-east. Gian is no stranger to the area, being from Drumoak on Deeside, and is keen to bring a TESLA ‘home’. Gian will also demonstrate the blistering performance of the Tesla on the SpeedFest track, alongside a petrol-engined thoroughbred Italian supercar.
This year’s SpeedFest will build on last year’s success as a celebration of performance and sports cars from 1955 to the present day. 100 specially-invited cars will take part in a series of activities, including ‘early bird’ supercar rides, a historical pageant with expert commentary, parallel autotest, pursuits and a grand finale. Kevin Carmichael’s new car and superbike stunt show will make its Scottish debut, with two arena shows in the afternoon.
The site will be full to capacity with motor traders and special presentations from a range of enthusiastic sponsors including Gray Paul (Edinburgh), John Clark Mini, Cars Recovery and Overton Dismantlers as main sponsors and Kinghorn Bodyshop, Moneyplan-it and Polished Bliss as key supporters. F1 simulators, rides and motoring trade stands will take up the rest of the 15-acre site.
The selection this year promises to be even more exciting and the addition of Tesla is seen as a real glimpse into the future!
