Storage is a problem for Torphins Scouts’ equipment

Torphins Scouts say they need urgent help to solve an accommodation crisis.

The 1st Torphins Scout Group is looking for a place to store their equipment and a box trailer.

The thriving group currently has around 90 members and at present the equipment is stored in a box trailer, which is sited temporarily in a field near Torphins, and garages and sheds belonging to the Scout leaders.

With winter on the doorstep, the group want to have a site either in the village on just on the outskirts, where everything can be kept safely together.

A number of landowners and business owners have already been approached but have nothing available at present to help out.

Robbie Dow, chairman of the Scout group executive, explained: “Ideally we would like a shed or garage or a site where we could place a container to hold everything. We are quite happy to pay a fair rent because the Scouts are very good fund raisers.”

He added: “The current situation is not good with equipment stored all over the place and our box trailer in a field. For security and logistical reasons we need to have everything together in one place.

“We have a very active group of Scouts, Cubs and Beavers with a lot of equipment and I would be delighted if anyone could help us out with this problem.”
