Eleven Deeside adventurers have returned from a successful expedition to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
The trip was organised by Deeside-based outdoor activities company WalkDeeside Ltd. The intrepid eleven summited the mountain on Friday, February 17, and in doing so have raised £10,000 for charities including: Cystic Fibrosis, Help Mramba School, Aberlour Child Care Trust, Riding for the Disabled (Deeside) and the Muick Ward, Royal Cornhill Hospital.
Jill Randalls, fundraising for Riding for the Disabled (Deeside), said: “Watching the sunrise as we neared the summit was an experience that I’m sure none of us will ever forget. As well as raising money for some very worthwhile charities, we all fulfilled personal goals and made longlasting friendships. Above all the group were left with a deep and long lasting respect for the Tanzanian porters and guides who made it possible.”
