The Box Room reopens

The Boxroom was officially re-opened by Mike Rumbles at the weekend after its long-overdue refurbishment.

Based at Tillybrake Industrial Estate in Banchory, the Boxroom is a highly successful social enterprise, run by the Council for Voluntary Services Aberdeenshire (CVSA).

Its aim is to avoid waste and to divert used but still usable furniture and household goods from landfill by selling these at low cost to the public, or by providing them free to vulnerable families in need.

CVSA Chief officer Alan Young thanked the staff and team of volunteers who worked tirelessly to get the shop open on time.

Thanks also went to local businessman Ron McIntosh, who allowed the Boxroom to use three containers at the Burn O’Bennie and his garage to store the furniture during refurbishment.
