One of Scotland’s best known folk bands, The Poozies, will be appearing at the Finzean Hall on Friday, May 25.
The band was one of the first all-woman groups to appear on the traditional music scene and the invigorating fifth incarnation includes Achiltibuie accordeon ace Mairearad Green alongside wonderful fiddler Eilidh Shaw, of Taynuilt and original members Sally Barker on vocals and guitar, Patsy Seddon on enticing harp, vocals and fiddle and Mary Macmaster on the Camac electro harp, clarsach and vocals.
The Poozies instrumental music is described as bursting with energy and ‘spine-tinglingly refreshing’ and audiences will enjoy the full range of styles ranging from songs and tunes from ancient Gaelic, to their own modern ballads.
The proceeds from the concert will go towards this years ‘Harvest Folk Festival’ (The second Hairst), which is based again at the Potarch Hotel, and scheduled for the last weekend in September.
Tickets for the Poozies are available from Birseland Media on 07789 692836 or Birseland@aol.com
