A Deeside photography company is celebrating thirty years in business this month.
Deeside Photographics was formed in 1982, at 36 High Street, by local photographer Logan Sangster.
The company has covered thousands of weddings over the years, throughout the UK as well as the Grampian area.
Logan says: “We have made many friends over the years. One couple from Germany, Geoffrey and Connie Hipp, still now visit our home here in Banchory on a regular basis, and they have met all my family- after we helped plan their big day for them back in 2008 at Drumtochty Castle. We should really write a book, as I have taken a bride and her father to the church when her car didn’t arrive twice; had to play the organ once at a small wedding in Forrest of Birse Church, and have been best man or witness on numerous occasions for small intimate weddings- we have had some great experiences and a sense of humour is a must in this job!”
Logan has also photographed some famous people who have visisted Deeside:” We are fortunate to have some outstanding hotels here in Banchory, which brought many photo opportunities with some famous people , including Rod Stewart, Prime Ministers ,sporting celebrities and film stars- who have all stayed in or around Banchory at some time.”
“In 1995, we secured the first of many assignments at Balmoral Castle for Her Majesty the Queen and her family. At first, we were really nervous. On the day it rained heavily so we were taken to the drawing room at Balmoral for the family portraits, which included all members of the Queen’s family. They made me feel really welcome and we have looked forward to all the other visits since. Images from photographs taken for Her Majesty have been used for her Christmas Card, made into postcards for the Royal Households and featured in many Royal publications.”
Last year, Deeside Photographics were finalists in the VOWS Awards for Scotland (Voted Outstanding Wedding Supplier) and were placed in the top six photographers in Scotland. They also won the UK Wedding Photograph of the Year ,in April 2010.
Logan added:”I am very grateful to have been surrounded by a loyal and dedicated team at Deeside Photographics. One member of our team, Jenny Dingwall, has been by my side for all of the 30 years and has gained great respect from our clients and part of the company’s success has been down to her.”
