Torphins concert rocks

There was much rock and rolling in Torphins as around 25 young people treated their family and friends to a concert at the Community Hall.

The first to be organised by guitar teacher David Inkster, who runs Gracenotes Guitar in the Deeside area and was designed to show a progression of raw talent through both the RGT and Rockschool Grade programmes.

Abilities ranged from beginners to Grade 8 guitarists who performed an eclectic mix of music such as, ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ by Greenday, ‘Radioactive’ by Imagine Dragons, ‘Tears in Heaven’ by Eric Clapton and ‘Minor Swing’ by Django Reinhardt. Despite having never met, the students were able to join each other on stage and perform their pieces superbly.

During the second half the audience was treated to an astonishing performance of a Joe Bonamassa piece: So Many Roads and a superb finale performed by the up and coming Tarland band Hiatus.

The audience was left captivated by the sheer dedication and talent of the students.
