Waste recycling centres to close later this month

Seasonal garden waste recycling points provided by Aberdeenshire Council will close later this month.

The last day of operation at each site will be Saturday, 10 November.

The recycling points affected by the closure include Aboyne (Station Square car park) and Ballater (Roads Depot, South Deeside Road).

The recycling points, which opened in April, have been provided by the council as an extra seasonal facility in recent years.

While the seasonal sites are closed, residents can still recycle their garden waste free of charge throughout the year at the Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRC).

For information on the location of HWRCs, how to buy discounted home composters, or other ideas to reduce garden waste, go to www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/waste or phone Wasteline on 0845 600 3 900.

The waste disposal site in Ballater was transferred back to the Church Square car park, from the council roads depot, on Saturday 27 October.

Garden waste can still be taken to the waste disposal site there after 10 November, but cannot be separated for recycling after that date.
