Have your say

The Westhill Scouts have been busy with a number of activities over the last few months.

Although it seems a long time ago, the group was on show at the Westhill Gala back in June, and everyone had a really good day with the hot dogs, popcorn and juice eagerly bought up as usual.

Three members of the scouting community have taken out the old kitchen and replaced it with a brand new one and members say that the kitchen has never looked so good. Everyone with the group would like to express thanks to Norman, Jim and Adrian for their efforts.

Westhill Scouts held their Annual General Meeting on Friday 9th September, where a high number of people turned out and enjoyed the barbecue.

One of the young leaders gave an amusing account of his visit with other members of the group to the 22nd World Jamboree held in Sweden.

The theme for the jamboree is “Simply Scouting” and it sounded like they all had a great time.

Eva, one of the Beaver Scout leaders, gave a short report on her visit to Malawi.

She also had a display with photos of her visit and provided an insight into the kind of things they got up to while they were there.

Presentations were made for Long Service to Scouting to one of the Cub Leaders, Rae Taylor, and also the ‘longest’ one ever to a leader in the group.

This was presented to AGSL Norman Hall for fifty years of service with the scouts by district commissioner Keith Millar.

The Group is now looking forward to the winter term and the various sections are busy getting on with their programmes.

Plans are underway to welcome Santa again to their Soup ‘n’ Santa event at the scout headquarters on Saturday 10th December, starting at midday until 2pm, weather permitting.

Santa’s Post Box will be making its annual appearance in the scout headquarters for the young people to post their “Wish Lists” to Santa in time for Christmas.
