THe entrance to Westhill is about to get a lot more colourful following the planting of 6000 daffodils and 1000 crocus bulbs.
The Westhill community environmental project planted the bulbs on the grass area where the ‘Welcome to Westhill’ stone is adjacent to Tesco roundabout on the on A944.
The community support for planting the bulbs is from Westhill Rotary Club, Lions Club, Round Table and members of the Westhill and District Council.
Children and parents and teacher from the primary schools all took part in the bulb planting
Some 3000 daffodil bulbs were donated by Dobbies and 3000 daffodil bulbs and 1000 crosus bulbs from Aberdeenshire Council.
Councillor for Westhill And District, Ron McKail, said: “I was delighted with the support and the response received from local organisations in Westhill and with the involvement of the children, their teachers and of parents. This is an excellent example of how supportive the members of the Westhill Community are and also the pride being taken in improving their environment. I`m hoping the 6000 daffodils and 1000 crocuses flowering next spring will give Westhill the `wow` factor”.
