Have your say

The Alford community is being invited to share its views on what is important for the town and surrounding areas over the next five to ten years, during a consultation event in the town next week.

Donside Community Council and Aberdeenshire Council are holding the drop- in event in Alford Heritage Centre from 11am-3pm and 6pm-8pm on Tuesday, April 28. Refreshments will be provided.

Please come and tell us what’s important to improving all aspects of quality of life.

Janelle Clark

The information gathered may influence decisions around the potential uses of an area of the existing campus site that is designated for community use.

The proposed Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan has identified the existing school campus site as being suitable for housing, employment and community use, and the information will also identify if there is a need to review Oor Alford – The Alford Community Action Plan 2010.

The action plan identified a variety of projects, both large and small. A number of these have now been completed, some are in progress, others have fallen by the wayside and some new projects have come to light since.

In the years since the action plan was launched, Alford has grown and this will have an impact on the needs and residents and business-owners.

Marr Area Manager Janelle Clark said: “It’s important for us to find out the views of residents, local groups and businesses so that we can work with you to ensure that the place you live is the best it can be now and will continue to meet your needs well into the future.

“Please come and tell us what’s important to improving all aspects of quality of life in and around the village. All views are valid, whether you have lived in the village all your life or have just moved here, and the consultation is open to individual residents, groups and business representatives of all ages.”
