Organisers who have been raising funds and making plans for a skate park in Aboyne for at least a decade are hoping that this weekend will be the final push for fund-raising.
Plans will be resubmitted for a revised Aboyne skatepark and there will be a consultation coffee morning this weekend.
It’ll take place at the Victory Hall this Saturday, March 30, from 10am until noon, where anyone will be able to go along and see the latest developments, plans and visualisations which the organisers say they are very excited about. They said: “We are really excited about it and hope that this will be the year Aboyne’s long awaited wish to see a skatepark built will come to fruition.”
The event on Saturday is free for people to go along and view the plans, but refreshments (hot drinks and cakes!) will cost £2 per person.
Finding an appropriate site for the skatepark has been an issue over the past ten years but organisers believe this year will be the final one of planning.
People interested in the park have held weekly meetings and worked hard to try and make it happen, they also plan mini-bus trips to the skate park at Stonehaven as an alternative.
