Aberdeenshire Council assures visitors to Strathdon that businesses in the area can still be accessed whilst work takes place on the A944 at Forbestown, Bellabeg, Strathdon.
The remedial works will continue until mid-October and are taking place to stabilise the embankment following a landslip in April which restricted the road to single file traffic.
Three diversion routes have been put in place to ensure that vehicles are directed onto the most appropriate road for their size and weight.Aberdeenshire Council’s head of roads and landscape services Philip McKay said: “We are working to ensure the repairs are carried out in the shortest possible timescale with minimum disruption.
“We apologise for the inconvenience the essential road closure is having on businesses in Strathdon. “Following consultation we identified a start date which would avoid the height of the tourist season but still at a time where the weather would allow us to carry out the work. “We have added additional signs to alert drivers of smaller vehicles that they can still travel through Strathdon.
“We hope this will further minimise the disruption to businesses in the area.”
