As part of an Enterprise topic, P6/7 from Durris School formed a company to organise and prepare a community event on the theme of World War 2.

They developed their enterprise skills by working in teams, solving problems, being organised and being good communicators.

The company was called the Blue Sky Balloon Corporation (BSBC) and they designed a logo and slogan.

In teams they produced and sent out invitations, organised and shopped for refreshments, created displays, programmes and decorated the hall, organised transport and worked within a budget.

They invited the older members of the community and the whole project came to fruition when they presented ‘An Explosion of Entertainment’ at Durris School.

The audience enjoyed the performance of WW2 songs, poems and dances and were also shown the children’s work which included powerpoints, writing and art work and the afternoon was deemed to be a great success.
