BANCHORY golfer James Byrne's good run of form came to an end at the St Andrews Links Trophy over the weekend.

The Arizona State University student had gone into the competition on a high after finishing tied-fourth at the Bidwells Scottish Stroke Play Championship the week before.

However rounds of 78 and 81 meant Byrne did not make the cut.

Ulsterman Alan Dunbar (Rathmore) won the low-scoring event with a final score of two-under par.
