BANCHORY ST TERNAN 7 - 0 FC STONEYWOOD
SAINTS went into this match with the knowledge that a win or draw would be enough for them to be crowned North Region First Division champions.
And what a performance they gave in their last home game of the season.
Richie Crighton began the celebrations in earnest when a Watt corner was met by Kelly, whose header was cleared off the line only as far as the striker who netted easily inside the six-yard box.
Saints second was a goal worthy of gracing any game of football with Campbell Watt striking an unstoppable left foot shot from fully 35 yards into the top corner.
Watt found himself on the score sheet again just 60 seconds later when he met a Crighton cross.
Banchory struck a fourth a few minutes before the interval. Campbell Watt was again in the thick of it, this time beating the offside trap to set up Keith Horne for his first of three.
Saints got a fifth when Watt again found Horne waiting to help himself for his second.
It didn't take substitute Roddy Cameron long to make his mark on the match when he did superbly to cross for Horne, and the wee striker showed excellent technique to volley home and make it six.
The scoring was completed seven minutes from time when Darryn Kelly crossed for sub Danny Glendinning who couldn't miss from six yards.
They finish the season with an away match against Glentanar on Tuesday, May 20, the same night as the NRJFA's appeal against the SFA's decision to uphold Banchory's appeal against their 12-point deduction.
Afterwards Steve Scott said: "I said to the players before the game to go out and show everyone we are the best team in the league.
"It was a great overall performance and a fantastic way to win the league. I was very proud of the players and every one of them has played their part in this success."
Special mention should also go to club president Gordon Humble, who was unable to make the match due to work commitments. The time and effort he has put into the club, not only this season with the appeal hearing, but every season is what makes Banchory St Ternan FC tick.
Team: Sim, Cooper, Shand, Skene, (Strachan 61), McRae, Kelly, Ogston (Cameron 70), Cruickshank, Crighton, Horne, Watt (Glendinning 75). Subs not used: McWhinnie, Watson.
