CHRIS Mountford scored a hat-trick to give Culter a 3-1 victory over eight-man Dyce in the first round of the GA Engineering Inter Regional Cup.
In their first game since December 5, Culter fielded new signing Allan Douglas at centre half.
The Deesiders will now face an away trip to Downfield of Dundee after coming back from a goal down to easily beat a Dyce team that finished the game with only eight players. In a match that was far from dirty the referee saw fit to show three red and four yellow cards to the away team.
A Mountford header and a Youngson free kick were easily held by Buckley as Culter went looking for an early advantage.
At the other end Farquhar was called into action to punch away a Cummings goal-bound header. Dyce took the lead in 17 minutes when Lyon's shot from 10 yards beat Farquhar at his near post. Culter were level five minutes later when McBain made a surging run into the box and cut the ball perfectly to Chris Mountford to send the ball home from close range.
McKimmie should have scored minutes later after he beat half the away team only to see his well-struck shot saved by Buckley.
With 30 minutes gone Wilson's long ball found McBain whose sweeping cross found Mountford only for the striker's effort to just clear the bar.
Wilson had a header cleared off the line by Webster almost straight from the restart. Douglas then warmed the away keeper's hands with a powerful strike from 30 yards.
Youngson's shot from the widest of angles came back off the inside of the post before Wilson sent a screamer just high and wide of the target.
Dyce were reduced to 10 men after 55 minutes when Murray was shown a straight red for kicking out.
Seconds later Buckley made the save of the game when he turned Mountford's powerful drive onto the bar and away to safety.
In 63 minutes, however, Chris Mountford was not to be denied and claimed his second by tapping home McBain's low cross from close range.
In a rare attack Lyon was through on goal only to be denied by a last ditch tackle from McBain. Ogboke should have done better than hit the corner flag when through on goal and another Buckley save denied Mountford his third.
Neish headed over a Lyon corner but in 84 minutes Dyce were reduced to eight men when both Esson and Neish were shown red cards for dissent.
Mountford completed his hat-trick when he turned home Robertson's low cross in 88 minutes to complete the scoring.
