BANCHORY strongman Kenneth Nowicki is looking for support from local firms so he can live the American dream.

The 22-year-old is heading to Columbus, Ohio in the States this March to represent Scotland at the World Amateur Strongman Championships.

The Strathclyde University student will compete for the first time in six months this weekend after his father passed away in August last year.

Kenneth will be taking part in the Scottish Strongman Qualifiers in Dumfries. Last year he qualified for the UK Strongman Championships by finishing third at the Scottish qualifiers in Dumfries.

In 2008 Kenneth, then 20, also qualified for the UK finals when he became the youngest person from Scotland to ever do so.

And he is confident he can qualify for a third successive time this year.

Kenneth said: "I'm feeling good about this year's qualifiers. Last year I finished third and with the World Championships coming up in March I want to use this weekend and the Strongman Champions in Lancashire on February 21 as warm-ups to ensure I am not rusty when I go to America.
"I'm looking forward to this weekend in Dumfries and I am confident I will qualify."

Kenneth added: "It is obviously quite expensive to get to America so if any local companies can provide any support whatsoever I would really appreciate it."

Any local firms interested in sponsoring Kenneth can contact him at KenNowickiStrongman@gmail.com
