Local Durris youngsters turned out in great numbers and in great voice to support local girl and Scottish International Emily Gray, at last weekend’s Tri Series event against Wales.
Although Scotland were defeated in the series, the youngsters had a great time and were certainly heard in the capacity crowd at Aberdeen Sports Village.
Emily, who captained the U21 Scotland squad for the weekend, was also introduced to the Aberdeen Lord Provost at a Civic Reception on Saturday evening.
She said: “This has been a great training and development opportunity for the whole team.
“Wales overall were stronger and deserved to win but we have learnt and taken so much from the whole experience.
“We are a very close group and I have made so many friends in my eight years of playing. Our aim now is the World Youth Championships in 2013 and obviously the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
“It was so nice to see and hear the Durris children - it gave me a real lift. I was honoured to lead out the team as Scottish captain in front of a home crowd in Aberdeen and it was very emotional to be there in front of my family as friends as the Scottish national anthem was played.”
