A large number of members turned out at Aboyne Golf Club on Thursday evening (August 4) to pay tribute to the golfing achievement of one of their honorary members Janette Wright.

A longstanding member of 50 years, Mrs. Wright’s illustrious career included winning four Scottish Ladies championships, playing on four Curtis Cup teams, and winning the British Girls championship.

The club hosted an intimate evening with several guest speakers and unveiled a wall hanging denoting the highlights of Janette’s  career in golf to be hung in the clubhouse.

Daughter Pamela Wright, now a golf professional in Scottsdale, Arizona, was present and she gave a poignant thanks to her mother for the positive influence she been through out her life and her own career.

Mrs. Wright took time to mention her late husband Innes Wright (first professional at Aboyne Golf Club) and their victory for Scotland in the Worpleston Mixed Foursomes in Surrey.

She wished the club’s talented young golfers success and gave a generous thanks to the guest speakers, Lady Captain for attending to the details and to the Aboyne Golf Club for the honour. The evening closed with the club presenting flowers to Janette and the guest speakers.
