Torphins Tornados FC have been recognised for their valuable contribution to grassroots football.
At a special awards evening at the Double Tree Hotel in Aberdeen, the club was presented with their Scottish FA Quality Mark Standard Award by SportScotland’s Jan Stander and North Regional Committee Member Duncan Massie.
The Quality Mark Accreditation Scheme, run by the Scottish FA in partnership with McDonald’s and sportscotland, recognises proactive clubs and schools working to increase youth and community participation. Clubs receive the award after meeting standards in areas such as coach and player development, management, administration, welfare and planning.
Chairman Adrian George said: “It’s a great achievement for the club, that now gives us the solid club structure with well trained coaches and a strong committee in place to grow the club over the next few years.
“We are currently looking for players and coaches to enable us to enter under 12s, under 11s and under 10s teams into the leagues for next season. I know there are lots of boys and girls wanting to play more football and be part of a good very well run community club.”
