Aberdeenshire came to Burnett Park for the first game of the U15s season.
The start of the match was delayed by rain, but once it abated Aberdeenshire won the toss and elected to field.
This decision backfired on Aberdeenshire as Banchory’s openers, S.Richards (26 not out, retired) and H.Payne (21) shared a stand of 40, before Payne was bowled by J.Cray.
Next in was W.Redpath (1), who fell in similar fashion, off the bowling of A.Grayson.
This brought J.Richards (18) to the crease, who proceeded to smash his third and fourth balls for six.
Some crucial runs at the end of the innings from C.Wilson (5 not out) and debutant J.Williams (4 not out) set Aberdeenshire a challenging total of 98 in 20 overs.
H.Payne (1-13) set about restricting Aberdeenshire’s top order, and bowled A.Grayson off his second ball.
J.Richards(2-22) then took the new ball at the other end and made an excellent recovery after R.West (38 not out) plundered boundaries off his first few deliveries.
Next change of bowlers saw skipper S.Richards (2-11) bowling in tandem with the stand out performer with the ball, Sean McPhail (4-2).
After 12 overs W.Redpath (1-12) was introduced into the attack after he had been keeping wicket.
This was an excellent performance from the Banchory lads as Aberdeenshire are a large club, and not only did they win, but by a comfortable margin of 20 runs.
