Culter kept their hopes of retaining the Superleague title alive with an impressive display against Longside at Crombie Park last weekend.

The Deesiders attacked from the kick off and McAthur’s cross was met by Youngson, who turned his marker in the 4th minute but his shot was well held by Duffy. The away keeper then did well to clutch McAllister’s powerful 20 yarder out of the top corner.

A goal mouth scramble in the away box ended with McBain being felled in the six yard box and the referee pointed straight to the penalty spot. Lewis McKIMMIE stepped up to send Duffy the wrong way from 12 yards.

McBain then showed great skill when he chested down high ball and volleyed the ball ball off the top off the crossbar from 40 yards for what would have been goal of the season.

McKimmie saw a close range shot saved as the home team went hunting for a second and they didn’t have long to wait.

On 36 minutes a defence splitting pass by Brown found McBain wide on the right and the striker’s low cross found Lewis McKIMMIE who slid the ball into the net from 8 yards.

With half time looming, Robertson’s low cross found Brown at the front post but the midfielder’s effort was saved by the leg of Duffy.

Culter continued on the front foot and McAllister laid the ball into the path of George McBAIN who took one touch before sending a terrific shot past Duffy and into the top corner of the net in the 56th minute.

With 64 minutes gone a long ball over the away defence found McWilliam whose first time shot was saved by Duffy only as far as McKimmie whose shot was also blocked. But the ball fell to Ross McWILLIAM, still lying on his back, who hooked the ball home from 10 yards.

Four minutes later and it was game over. George McBAIN ran on to Kelly’s pass and into the box before chipping the ball over the away keeper and into the net.

Wilson, now playing midfied, hit a thunderbolt just wide of the post from 30 yards and then Mountford just saw his deflected shot just go wide after McBain’s cross.

Farquhar had to get down smartly to save Little’s shot and seconds later had to do the same to deny Porter with full time approaching.

In injury time McAllister had a great chance to open his account for Culter but his shot just went inches wide of the post.
