Culter hammer Stoneywood as they chase down leaders

Culter went nap for the second match on the trot as they rocketed up the Superleague table and closed in on leaders Hall Russell United.

Crombie Park was in excellent condition for this crucial league match and Culter went straight on the offensive with Lewis McKimmie heading a long Scott McArthur cross wide before Richard Wyness went close from with a flying drive.

Moments later Lewis McKimmie provided the ammunition for Jamie McAllister who steered his shot narrowly wide.

The Deesiders went deservedly in front in the 14 minute when Richard Wyness bulleted home a Ryan Stott corner.

Jamie McAllister was next to have a go but on this occasion Ross Gibson saved his effort.

The Stoneywood rearguard were threatening to wilt as Culter pushed forward at every occasion and Ryan Stott had a glorious attempt cleared off the line by Liam Bain, before Shaun Clark also cleared off the line from Jamie McAllister.

The second was not long in coming when fantastic football from Hugh Robertson and Ryan Stott set up Jamie McAllister who crashed a shot off the post and Allan Youngson raced in to hoof the ball high into the net.

Richard Wyness almost added a third but he stumbled at the last second and slipped the ball wide of target.

In a rare Stoneywood attack, Dave Stevenson won a corner which came to nothing. The Culter midfield were totally dominant with Colin Craik and Allan Youngson pulling the strings and just before the interval the latter set up Jamie McAllister who headed wide.

Culter came racing out of the traps after the break with Allan Youngson having two goalbound attempt blocked by the under siege Stoneywood defence.

However it took until the 70th minute before Culter went further ahead and it was Lewis McKimmie who did the damage with a fantastic strike from outside the area which left the ‘Wood keeper flailing at thin air.

Lewis McKimmie did it again as Culter continued to press when he finished brilliantly following good lead up play.

The home side were running riot as the game drew to a close and Mike Taylor, on as a sub, completed the rout with the finest of finishes.
