Culter produce a five star show

It was a lovely evening at Crombie Park for the early mid-week kick off in the GA Engineering Inter Regional Trophy, where Culter probably played the best football of the season against Glentanar.

Culter got off to a great start, a long ball from Craick found J.McAllister who swept past goalkeeper Duff and fired the ball home for the first goal in 2 minutes.

In the 13th minute Youngson passed a through ball to Leith who beat the keeper easily for 2-0.

A good run by Leith down the left wing produced a good save by Duff in the 20th minute as the home side dominated.

A shot from McBain from an acute angle on the 23rd minute was saved again by Duff.

J. McAllister sent over a good cross and Leith headed home to make the score 3-0 after 30 minutes.

Robertson sent a delightful diagonal cross to McAllister and Duff made a good save from the resultant header.

A shot by Meggins in the 40th minute was tipped over the bar by Farquhar, then in the 42nd minute a good run by McAllister down the right flank and he sent a pass to McBain who hit the ball over the bar.

The first half was dominated by Culter and the movement and passing by the Culter players was excellent.

Sim replaced R. McArthur at half time as the action dropped at the start of the second period.

McBain scored on the hour mark after a fine through ball from Shand to make it 4-0 to Culter as L. Murray replaced Shand a minute later.

McAllister was put through on goal in the 62nd minute, but Duff made yet another good save.

McWilliam replaced Craick in the 65th minute before Glentanar pulled one back through Shanks, after beating two Culter defenders and Farquhar.

N. Reid got booked with regards comments he made to the referee.

McWilliam made a good run down the left wing and sent over a low hard cross which was met by McBain to make the score 5-1.

Robertson was booked for a late challenge in 71 mins, then McAllister crossed the ball to Leith who could have scored his hat trick, but unfortunately he headed the ball over the bar.

McAllister had a long range shot which was saved by Duff, then in injury time McWilliam broke through the Glentanar defence, but he fired past the post.

Culter take on Hall Russell United in the next round on Saturday (September 1).
