Deeside U18’s entered two sides into the Lathallan School inaugural 7’s.
Amongst the large crowd were three current Scottish internationals Moray Low, Ruaridh Jackson and Richie Vernon who also presented trophies.
The Deeside B team failed to qualify for the knock out stages, but participated in the most exciting match of the day 19 –19 draw with hosts Lathallan School. It was a particularly special match for B-side captain Harris Stevenson-Robb who was a former pupil at Lathallan.
The Deeside A team qualified for the knock stages with convincing wins over Aberdeen Grammar, Mackie, Angus Colts and Montrose. In the semi finals they produced a blistering display to overrun a strong Gordounston side.
In the final, Deeside were narrowly beaten by a skillful Robert Gordon College team, although the result was in doubt right up until the final whistle. The Deeside squad drew some consolation from finishing as runners up when their flying wing Calum Gordon was awarded the Player of the Tournament trophy.
