Culter started their defence of the PMAC Superleague with a comprehensive win over a young, but spirited Longside at Crombie Park.

Before the match Longside applauded Culter onto the pitch in recognition of their title win.

Once again it was the McBain and McAllister combination that did the damage.

Culter started with Sim releasing McAllister but the prolific hit man let the ball run too far, allowing McDonald to collect.

A few minutes later Burr of Longside thrashed one wildly over the bar before the Deesiders went in front when McBain cleverly picked out McAllister who smashed home in the 10th.

He then picked out McAllister with a telling cross but he completely mishit his shot.

The visitors were almost gifted an equaliser when Duffy’s punch dropped to the ground but Kelly was on hand to clear the danger.

There was a dangerous moment for the home side with 18 minutes gone when Little curved a grounder across the box but there were no takers.

Culter went deservedly two in front in the effort being saved he produced a sublime chip over the ‘keeper.

The McScorers continued to taunt the beleaguered home defence with both players making the ‘keeper produce good saves.

The Buchan men almost pulled one back with half time looming but Duffy made a good save from Davidson by tipping the ball over for a corner.

At the other end Rintoul was fouled on the very edge of the penalty area and Grieg stepped up to crash a great low grounder off the base of the post.

Just before the interval McBain tried his luck but once again McDonald saved well.

At the start of the second period McAllister sent through a fantastic ball to Grieg who was upended just outside the box and Youngson curled the ball towards the top corner but the ‘keeper was equal to the task producing a marvellous save.

Soon after a good Grieg cross was headed wide by McAllister when it looked easier to find the target.

A short while later Grieg was pulled down in the box by Daniel who was sent for an early shower and McAllister stepped up to fire the ball home despite McDonald getting a glove to the shot.

McAllister was then replaced by Taylor.

Youngson then went close following a swaggering run but unfortunately he dragged his shot wide.

The same player then found Grieg who powered a corker home.

Almost straight from the restart Grieg picked out Leith but his header cannoned off the bar but Culter were not to be denied a fifth when McBain let in Murray who gleefully tapped home.

It was not all over by any means as the game was drawing to a close in the persistent rain.

McBain produced the goal of the game when he twisted and turned in the box like a whirling dervish before finally sending the ball beyond the bemused ‘keeper.

Both Greig and Taylor had chances to make it seven but the former’s effort was well saved and the latter’s found the side netting.
