Promising young boxer Drew Robertson is set to fight in front of his hometown fans at the Banchory Royal British Legion later this month.
Drew, 17, will be fighting as part of a fundraising event for the Banchory Boys FC U15’s on February 18.
The Kincorth Amateur Boxing Club member only started boxing eighteen months ago where he started out in the Lightweight division (60kg) and won the Scottish Novice Title in 2009.
He has now stepped up a weight and currently fights in the Welterweight division (69kg) where he is targeting shots at the District and Scottish titles.
Drew has fought ten times so far, winning nine and losing only once.
The former Banchory Academy pupil spoke to the Piper about the upcoming fight.
He said: “I can’t wait to fight, although I’m still not too sure who the opponent is. I have an idea of who it may be but it has not been confirmed.
“So far this season I have had two fights and won both but I have since moved up to Welterweight which is a weight I haven’t fought at before.
“I am aiming to win the North East title, and then the Scottish title this season.
“Training has been going great. I train six times a week, and love learning about boxing because it gives you a focus.”
