Aboyne Junior Football Club has recently entered a 2007 age group team into the seven-a-side Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) regional league.

This will see the squad take on teams from all over Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City in a season which runs from March to November.

It is the first time in many years that Aboyne has featured in the regional leagues and it is hoped that it will encourage more children.

The team is made up from children from Aboyne, Torphins, Ballater and Braemar and they train every Saturday morning at the community centre all-weather pitch. Their home fixtures are played on Sunday mornings at the Aboyne Green.

AJC Construction, an Aboyne-based family-owned house builder and building contractor, has donated and sponsored a full set of new strips for the new team and this was presented by Kenny Lawson of AJC. The team is managed by coaches Gavin Sim, Matt Lane and Neil Milne and comprises of: Noah Hasnip, Dylan Baptie, Luca Milne, Max Lane, Archie Sim, Harrison Speak, Ethan Hunter, Alasdair Lawson, Rhys Wildbloodm Leo Maclean Morrison, Hamish McLardy, Angus Gardyne, Kieran Gouck, Russell Milne and Ryszard Pawlukiewicz.
