CULTER FC 4

Culter closed the gap at the top of the PMAC Superleague after a comfortable victory over bottom of the league, Longside.

Culter kicked off and McBain and McAllister both shot wide in the opening minutes but the away team went in front after only nine minutes. Leith slipped the ball to George McBAIN whose low shot flew under home keeper Thomson and into the net.

Longside tried to get back into the game with Cameron heading just wide and then Wallace shooting past.

McAllister crashed a header off the crossbar then Rintoul’s half volley screamed over the bar seconds later.

Culter doubled their lead in the 25th minute; McBain’s corner was touched on by Leith to Martin CRISP to hammer home from inches out. Youngson then nearly scored the goal of the season, after ghosting past half the home team he clipped the ball over Thomson only to see the ball bounce back off the crossbar.

Sim and then Youngson both saw shots blocked before Youngson forced Thomson into a near post save just on the half time whistle.

HT 0-2

Culter increased their lead in the 47th minute. McBain was poleaxed in the box and Allan Youngson stepped up to fire home from 12 yards. Youngson headed Rintoul’s cross wide and McAllister couldn’t believe his luck when he was left with the home keeper to beat but the striker had the ball grabbed from his feet as he tried to round him.

McBain forced Thomson into the save of the match when his stinging shot was palmed away. Wallace headed wide of an open goal after a mix up in the away box but in the 67th minute Culter added to their tally. Good build up play finished with Youngson’s cross finding McBain whose goal bound shot was tapped into the net from close range by Michael Taylor.

Reid denied Duncan with a last ditch tackle then Ramsay rattled the post with a piledriver for what would have been a consolation.

McAllister blasted over Shaun Taylor’s cross and then was unlucky to see his 20-yard effort rebound back off the crossbar with Thomson well beaten.

Thomson tipped over a Michael Taylor shot in the final seconds to complete the action.
