MONYMUSK have dropped down to Division Three after losing out in this relegation battle at Newtownhill in the final game of the season.
Fellow strugglers, Cammachmor,e leapfrogged the visitors after their victory and Musk slip out of Division Two East after just a season.
The home side deserved their win, with a disappointing performance by the visitors.
Musk got off to the worst possible start, going behind after just six minutes when defender Alex MacRae headed the ball into his own net.
Musk’s first real attempt at goal came after 14 minutes when Andy Cruden hit the side netting after a good pass from Andrew Moss. A minute later, though, the visitors could have been on level terms when Liam Beaton was unlucky to see a “trundler” hit the post.
Grant Forsyth had to be alert to push a shot over for a corner and, with four minutes of the half remaining, Beaton again went close. Just before the break Forsyth produced another good stop with the Musk defence unable to clear the ball.
Musk started the second half in purposeful fashion and Cruden produced a good stop from the Cammachmore keeper from the kick-off. The home side were still proving dangerous and a good cross saw the ball delivered just wide of the Musk goal.
A Moss effort was saved by the keeper and then Cammachmore went up the pitch and a drive rocketed off the post in the 75th minute.
With 12 minutes of the game remaining, the home side added a second when MacRae missed the ball at the back and a Cammachmore player gratefully accepted the gift. Deep into stoppage time Cammachmore added a third.
