Culter’s bid to reach the last 16 of the Scottish Junior Cup ended after an astonishing fourth round tie at Crombie Park.

Nine goals, two penalties, a hat trick and a red card in a match that swung from one end to the other.

Cumnock kicked-off after an entertaining programme from the Culter BB Pipe Band on a heavy pitch and they forged forward with McMenamin’s low, dangerous cross spinning out for a corner-kick.

Culter hit back and Leith had a good shot which keeper Fahey saved well. That was the start a of good spell by the home side, and in the 14th minute Culter hitman Jamie McALLISTER anticipated a long punt up the park. The striker found himself with only ‘keeper to beat and he easily rounded Fahey before tapping the ball into the empty net.

Things got worse for Cumnock in the 22nd minute when a McBain mazy into the box on the right ended with Robertson completely mistiming his tackle and set the winger clattering. Jamie McALLISTER stepped up to collect his second goal by sending the keeper the wrong way.

Bradford ended the first real Cumnock move when he whacked a shot from just inside the box which forced Duffy into an excellent save.

In the 33rd minute, Cumnock got a goal back. Howie fired a free-kick over and Stevie O’DONNELL from 8 yards rose above the home defence to send his header into the net.

Culter almost scored again at the start of the second half, Leith on the left found McBain on his own at the back post and from 10 yards hammered a shot on target that forced Fahey into a tremendous save.

The Cumnock entourage went wild as they got the equaliser in the 62nd minute. Howie passed to John BRADFORD who fired a shot which beat keeper Neil Duffy, hit the inside of the left post and into the net.

Things got worse for Culter in the 68th minute when Robbie Brown said something out of turn to referee Mike Rancone and having already had a yellow card, was sent packing.

However the Crombie outfit had no intention of hanging on for a draw and in the 70th minute George McBAIN give the sizeable home support hope when he was left on his own at the back post and drilled the ball low into the corner of the net.

Both sides missed chances as O’Donnell missed with a header and McArthur blasted over shot from 10 yards after McAllister and McBain set him up.

In the 76th minute Cumnock equalised again. Sean PEARCE collected a pass from the left before sending a looping shot past keeper Duffy.

Cumnock continued to press and Sean PEARCE stretched for a cross from the left. It looked he would not be able to catch it this time but somehow he sent a shot past the home keeper and Cumnock were in front for the first time in 85th minute.

With the 90 minutes approaching and the players beginning to tire on the heavy pitch Scott ANSON sent a shot from a narrow angle which caught everyone off-guard into the net.

Culter pushed everyone forward and were awarded another penalty in the 94th minute. Jamie McALLISTER grabbed the ball and blasted in his hat trick from 12 yards but seconds later the referee blew to finish off an entertaining match.
