A Deeside golf club has brought in the ‘green’ for a local charity- raising over £40,000 for a urological cancer cause.
The second annual UCAN Golf Challenge and fundraising dinner raised more than £43,000 to support the charity’s £2.5m fundraising campaign.
This year’s golf day was held at Banchory Golf Club and was followed by a champagne reception and dinner at the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa, with entertainment from Scottish comedian Craig Hill, fresh from his appearance at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
All proceeds will go to UCAN’s latest campaign to raise £2.5million to buy Scotland’s first Robotically-Assisted Surgical System (RASS) for Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A total of 19 teams took part in the UCAN Golf Challenge 2013, with Schlumberger Testing Services winning the team event. Michael Reid was the Individual Stableford winner and Chris Reid took home the prize for the individual gross score winner.
The prize-giving dinner at the Marcliffe was compered by Original 106fm DJ Neil Weightman, who had guests bidding for auction lots which all helped to boost the coffers.
UCAN’s Fundraising Manager, Fiona J D Pearson, said: “We are thrilled with the success of the second annual UCAN Golf Challenge and can’t believe we have managed to raise even more than last year, with a huge £43,197.60 being collected throughout the course of the day.
“We are grateful to all the teams and supporters...”
