Learn to Swim Gala proves great success

Have your say

Banchory Beavers Amateur Swimming Club’s (ASC) annual Learn to Swim Gala held on Saturday, June 28, was a great success.

This year the gala had a commonwealth theme in recognition of the forthcoming games in Glasgow.

Attended by more than 50 children, the emphasis was on fun and also managed to raise the fantastic amount of £724.50.

The money raised will be split between Banchory Beavers and Banchory Sports Village, the new sports centre opening in 2017.

The committee would like to give a big thank you to Banchory Community Council for donating £100 towards the cost of hiring the pool; raffle prizes kindly donated by Deeside Photographics; Flowertime; Tesco; Flowerboxcakes and to all donations by parents.

Their support is very much appreciated.

Meghan Hare, Banchory ASC Committee, added: “We hope that events like the gala, run by volunteers in the community, will inspire our young people to have fun while being active.”
