Westhill residents: get ready to rumble

WRESTLE ZONE: Westhill

WRESTLE ZONE: Westhill

Westhill is set to host a tag team title contest which headlines the return of family-friendly pro-wrestling to Donside.

The annual WrestleZone event will take place on Saturday, April 5, and see current champions, ‘The Thunder Buddies,’ defend against longtime rivals, the Granite City Hotshots.

The title bout headlines a stacked card of action at the Ashdale Hall which will also host the return of Irishman Bingo Ballance to the North-east.

The Hotshots duo of Shawn Johnson and Bryan Tucker have tasted success before but are determined to bring the thunder down on the Buddies and regain the gold.

Tucker said: “We were robbed of the titles in January and it has been a long road back to get this championship opportunity.

“Shawn and I are desperate to get back to the top of the division, and this is a great chance for us to regain the titles.

“We are going to fight fire with fire, and I hope the Thunder Buddies are ready for it in Westhill.”

If they are successful at the Westhill event, it will be Tucker and Johnson’s third time as tag team champions – equalling the previous record held by Sterling Oil.

Shawn Johnson added: “We don’t want to rest on past victories and at Westhill, we will be prepared to go the extra mile to win the titles back.’’

Also announced for the Westhill spectacle is a non-title match between current Undisputed Champion Crusher Craib and James Midas.

Wrestle Zone host, Martyn Clunes, said: “Crusher has a date with destiny in his sights. He is so close to being the champion for one whole year, but he can not underestimate the threat of James Midas.

“Westhill’s wrestling fans are in for a treat, and we hope they can join us for what should be a great night of body-slamming action.”

Doors at the Ashdale Hall open at 7.30pm with the action getting under way at 8.

Entry is pay-at-the-door priced £12 for adults and £8 for under 14s.
