A Peterculter rower has been recognised for her sporting prowess at one of Robert Gordon University’s most prestigious awards ceremonies.

Lucy Bonnamy, 22, from Johnston Gardens North, received her Full Blue Award at the RGU: SPORT Awards Ball on Friday April 20.

The fourth year Diagnostic Radiography student was recognised for her rowing performance throughout the year, a highlight of which saw her compete in the Home Countries International Regatta.

Lucy also took part in the annual boat which saw RGU defeat Aberdeen University alongside Banchory’s Sophie White.

Inverurie swimmer Hannah Miley was selected for the second consecutive year as Sports Person of the Year.

Hosted within the Garthdee-based sport facility, the RGU: SPORT Awards Ball is the highlight of the university’s sporting calendar which recognises and celebrates the achievements of sports clubs and talented individuals.

On the night, the main sports hall was transformed into a grand ballroom where, following a keynote speech by Rugby Union champion, Paul Wallace, guests settled down to an elegant three-course meal.

The awards categories were: Full and Half Blues, Recognition Awards, Fresher of the Year, Sports Person of the Year, Best New Club, Most Improved Club, Presidents Performance, Club of the Year and Team of the Year sponsored by Kukri.
