Upper Deeside swimmers came home with a haul of medals from last weekend’s Westhill Minnows meet, including double gold for the boys’ relay team.
Kit Newman, Rory Meldrum, Cameron McGowan and Bob Cain won both the 4x25m Freestyle and the 4x25m Medley relays.
The event, for 9 to 11 year olds, was a great success for the club’s individual swimmers too. Cameron McGowan took gold in the 10yo boys’ freestyle and there were silver medals for Rory Meldrum and Bob Cain in backcrawl. Sam Cain took bronze in the 10yo boys’ Butterfly and Freestyle.
The Upper Deeside girls relay team, Lily Croll, Mhairi Welsh, Laura Thompson and Katie Dundas, took silver in the 4x25m Freestyle.
Claire Brown also swam her first sub-40 second 50m Freestyle to win Bronze in the 11year old girls final.
Coach Sue Cain said: “They were very focussed on the day and definitely enjoyed themselves.
“I was also impressed with some excellent personal best times for Charlotte Pine, Alistair Tapper, Ailsa Gardyne and Ben Murphy.
“I’m sure the club will be back again next year!”
