Former Banchory Golf Club and Scottish development coach Steven Chalmers, who moved to Bishops Gate Golf Academy in the state of Florida in 2015, is already making an impression with recent success for his group of junior golfers.

One of his group recently won an International Junior Golf Tour event which now allows him to play in AJGA tournaments on America’s top junior golf circuit.

The youngest member of his group, aged 13, won the “Race to Scotland” order of merit event where the leading players in their respective age divisions in the IJGT Tour were awarded a week’s trip to Scotland, playing courses such as Gullane and St Andrews, great experience for these young, talented golfers.

Steven commented: “It has been a fun, enjoyable and exciting spell in America so far, with my golf group all improving.”

Chalmers reckons recent success by his pupils is down to his holistic coaching approach to junior golf development and making sure that his pupils have fun during their journey at the golf academy.

Last year Steven was awarded PGA Advanced Status for contributions to junior golf coaching.

This is awarded only to those who have reached the top of their field of endeavour.
