TWO Deeside girls were members of the Robert Gordon College team who were victorious at the Scottish Schools Relay and Multi event championships at Grangmouth at the weekend.

For the first time in the history of the school, Robert Gordon’s College girls won the group B Relay event and were presented with The Robert Blair Henry Cup.

The cup was first presented in 1979.

The team consisted of Lindsey Young (S5, 16 years old, Torphins), Emma Caldow (S4, 15 years old, Aberdeen), Charlotte Meil (S4, 16 years old, Kintore) and Sophie Clayton (S3, 15 years old, Banchory) (see attached photo, filename details name and order of girls).

Mrs Wendy Smith, Principal teacher of girls PE and Head of Athletics said: “It was a great day for our team. Winning a gold medal at the Scottish schools is a huge achievement for the girls and the school. Our girls created sporting history for RGC which makes the achievement even more impressive. They ran the fastest girls time of the day, beating the winners of the senior girls race time.”
