During the competition, Patrick Angus, partnered by L. Menzies, both of Huntly Golf Club, had a hole-in-one at the 180-yard par three 14th using a three wood. Their playing partners were G & W Smith from Aboyne.

Another hole in one was recorded on Wednesday, May 29, at Aboyne when junior member Marc Anderson, age 15, had a hole-in-one at the 173-yard 14th using a hybrid. His playing partners were Hamish Ritchie and Dominic Bradburn, also of Aboyne Golf Club.

Torphins

Graeme Macaulay, tree surgeon, of Torphins has agreed to sponsor the 2013 Ladies Open next Saturday, June 15.

The additional funding from Graeme will allow the club to provide prizemoney of £70, £40 and £25 for first, second and third place for both silver and bronze divisions, plus prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive.

Graeme said, “I had no hesitation when asked to sponsor this event.

‘‘Hopefully, it will be well attended and everyone enjoys their day out.”

The format for this year’s open will be singles stableford with an entry fee of £12 per person.

Chamber Golf Challenge

North-east Chamber members are preparing to compete at Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s (AGCC) annual Golf Challenge at the end of 
June.

Teams will tee off from the first and 10th holes, giving the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf in a relaxed environment, rounded off with a prize giving dinner. The Chamber’s annual golf challenge is renowned for networking, client entertainment and rewarding staff.
