Lathallan School set to host annual rugby sevens

Deeside players will be joining those from other clubs competing at Lathallan School’s Rugby Sevens Tournament next weekend.

The annual competiton hosted by the Johnshaven school will kick off at 10.30am next Saturday, April 26, and run until 4pm

Lathallan is looking forward to welcoming hundreds to people to its fourth sevens tourney event and a thrilling day of competitive rugby will be enjoyed by all who attend.

Parents and friends of the players will travel from Aberdeen and the Shire, as well as Angus, Tayside and Perth to cheer on the teams and enjoy the hospitality.

Schools/clubs confirmed as attending across the four tournaments of U18, U16, U14 and P7 include Montrose, Carnoustie, Brechin, 
Mackie, Robert Gordon’s College, Harris Academy, Strathmore, Moray, Gordonstoun as well as four teams from Lathallan.

A school spokerperson said: ‘‘The event has firmly established itself as an important annual fixture for the sporting calendar, and we hope to be joined by Sir Moir Lockhead, chairman of the Scottish Rugby Union, and its former president,Ian McLauchlan.

‘‘The event will raise funds for The Bill McLaren Foundation, Hearts and Balls and The Lathallan Foundation for bursaries.

‘‘This is a free family fun day, open to all, and will also include a BBQ, beer tent, bouncy castle, face painting and family entertainment.

‘‘Raffle prizes will include a signed Scotland rugby shirt, signed Warriors rugby ball,two tickets to Our Kind of Jazz Weekend at Woodend Barn and a four-ball at Stonehaven Golf Course.’’
