A SPECTACULAR night of pro-wrestling action lit-up Westhill’s Ashdale Hall this past Saturday.

The grizzled grapplers of WrestleZone were back in town for their annual showcase event, and the North-east’s mat masters served up a great night of high-flying wrestling action.

For one grappler, the night continued momentum as “Tenacious” Johnny Lions scored the victory along with Dickie Divers, seeing off duo the Rejected in a high tempo tag team bout.

After the match, the 37-year-old said: “I’m delighted to pick up this win and continue my form in the WrestleZone. Johnny Time was in full effect in the Ashdale Hall on Saturday, and it was enough to see my through!”

A night of bodyslams and hip tosses culminated in a successful defence of the WrestleZone Undisputed Championship as Scotty Swift bested Aspen Faith in a tight main event.

In the night’s other championship contest, tag team title-holders Mr. P & Kaden Garrick were disqualified in a fiery bout with rivals Sterling Oil, as tempers flared.

There were also big wins for Crusher Craib, Lewis Girvan and Blue Thunder as the attention turn’s to June’s wrestling supershow at the Aberdeen Beach Ballroom.

WrestleZone host Martyn Clunes knows that all eyes are now focussing on the biggest event on the North-east’s wrestling calendar.

He added: “We are less than two months away from the big day, and it was clear in Westhill that there are a lot of issues to be settled.

“Fans were served up a treat, from the great technical bout between Lewis Girvan and Damien to the hard-hitting contest that saw Crusher Craib defeat Shawn Johnson.

“The pieces of the puzzle are coming together, and the fans in Westhill certainly played their part in spurring the wrestlers on.”

The next chance to catch the WrestleZone grapplers is on Saturday May 7th when they return to Stonehaven Town Hall. More information is at www.wrestlezonescotland.co.uk or by phoning 07855 121777.
