Return of the Beast

There is no need to scour across Scotland for tough challenges when The Banchory Beast Race is on your doorstep.

This tough but achievable event will see you fighting your way through the dense forest, undergrowth and mud along the banks of the scenic Knockburn Sports Loch near Banchory.

Your challenge is to overcome 20 mega obstacles along the way, with ‘barbed-wire crawl-unders’, rope nets, 12ft high walls to climb over, muddy bogs and dimly lit tunnels to drag yourself through, this is no walk in the park.

The Banchory Beast Race returns on Saturday September 26th and promises to be an epic 10km obstacle race to remember.

Organised by Firetrail Events, Prime Four and supporting Scotland’s Health Charity, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, runners, joggers and adventure seekers are being challenged to take part in this monster event.

CHSS Regional Fundraising Manager Paul Corrigan said of the event: “Third time’s the charm as the Beast returns to Knockburn Sports Loch for its 3rd year running.

“The Beast Race at Banchory has a fantastic energy and we love seeing everyone push themselves to tame the beast and come up smiling at the end.

“This could be your year to take on this epic challenge and raise money for a good cause on the way.

“A valued donation of £5 from each Beast runner’s entry fee goes to CHSS and we hope that runners will choose to raise additional optional sponsorship for the charity to help us improve the quality of life for people living with the debilitating effects of chest, heart and stroke illness - people just like us living across the North of Scotland.

“We’re already seeing lots of last year’s entrants coming back for more but want even more people to get their chance to tame The Beast this year.”

If you’ve a reasonable level of fitness, a sense of humour and a willingness to get muddy, wet and tired for a really great cause then this is the event for you.

Solo runners and teams of different sizes are welcome, with a great memento for all runners and brilliant prizes up for grabs.
