Wrestling action returns to Westhill next Saturday, April 18, with a huge night of action at the Ashdale Hall.

The event will mark a watershed moment for Aberdeen wrestler Scotty Swift as he faces a main event bout with long-time rival Johnny Lions.

Swift – affectionately known as the “Red-Haired Warrior” – has a huge opportunity on the horizon in May as he will challenge for the Undisputed Championship at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom.

Before then, the 34-year-old will face his old rival in Westhill and Scotty sees this bout as perfect preparation.

He added: “Things are getting exciting in the WrestleZone and I am delighted to be at the forefront.

“All eyes are on the big one at the Beach Ballroom, and this bout in Westhill will be a good test of my skills.

“Lions has loads of experience in the squared circle and I need to test myself against the best. There will be no second chances at Aberdeen Anarchy, so I need to be as ready as I can be.”

Scotty was recently featured on the ITV television show Judge Rinder as he stood up for some of the younger wrestlers currently learning their craft under the “Tenacious One”.

As a graduate of the WrestleZone Training Academy, Swift is determined to make Lions pay for drill-sergeant attitude to training.

“Inside and out of the ring, Johnny Lions is not a nice person,” he continued.

“Maybe that’s why he has held the Undisputed Championship twice. But I believe that you need to treat people fairly and I’m going to use all that animosity to fire me up.

“The encouragement from everyone has been great but it’s now time to do it. In Westhill, I’ll be aiming to take one step closer to realising a dream I’ve held for a very long time.”

The match is one of six contests taking place at the Ashdale Hall during the annual spectacle in Westhill.

Also set for action are current tag team champions Bryan Tucker and Shawn Johnson, while Crusher Craib is also set to wreak havoc in his bout. Doors open at 7pm with the action getting under way at 7.30pm. Entry is pay-at-the-door.
