Garioch Gymnast Izzy Tolometti from Alford was selected to be part of the Scottish team that took part in the Celtic Cup in Ireland last Saturday.

This is the first time a Garioch gymnast has been selected to represent Scotland at an International event and she did club and country proud.

Izzy, 12, was selected by the national coaches to be team captain and she led the young team to a fantastic team silver behind the girls from Wales. Individually Izzy placed ninth with a personal best score and was the second highest scoring gymnast in the Scottish team.

Izzy has worked really hard for this success and this representation shows how the hard work is paying off. She is coached by high performance coach Janine Robertson and senior club coach Emily Bull.

Her dedication and attitude to work has paid off at school as well where she was nominated by Alford Academy to be a torch bearer in the Olympic Torch Relay. Again, Izzy was selected and will be running a stretch of the torch relay in Ballater on Monday 11th June.

All at Garioch Gymnastics Club are very proud of Izzy and her achievements, with her talent, hard work and dedication they club believes it is only the beginning of her national career.

Two other Garioch gymnasts were representing Scotland this weekend but this time in Birmingham.

Kerry Smith and Alix Still were at the British National Grades Finals with senior coach Emily Bull. Kerry was competing in Grade 5 and Alix in Grade 6 where they both performed extremely well against some of the best gymnasts in Britain.
