Westhill triathlete Lewis Murchie has been boosted by the news that global energy company TAQA will sponsor him for the next three years.
Lewis, who is back in training after breaking his collar bone, feels the financial backing of the Westhill-based will make a big difference to his competition calendar.
He said: “TAQA’s support allows me the opportunity to gain more experience further afield, in bigger events, where the competition is a lot tougher and I aim to make the most of the opportunities they have provided.”
TAQA’s operations manager, Ian McRae, believes both parties will benefit from the link-up.
“The relationship with Lewis has been very valuable already,” he said. “Lewis helped us to launch our new health and wellbeing programme by sharing his experience as a top athlete and answering questions on fitness and training.
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to help Lewis further his development over the next three years and fulfil his ambitions which could see him go all the way to the podiums of the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and World Championships.”
Lewis would also like to thank KCA Deutag who recently funded a bike box which will help transfer his equipment safely when travelling around the world.
