With just under three months to go until the Cairngorm Challenge 2012 there is still plenty of time to register for this exhilarating hike and bike event in the Cairngorms National Park.
For those of you still unsure, everyone that registers up until July 13 will be entered into a prize draw for a Quad Biking and 4x4 Driving Experience for four people worth £300, which has been donated by Mad Max Adventures.
Barnardo’s Cairngorm Challenge, now in its sixth year, will take place on 8 September.
Teams of four are invited to take part and motivate, inspire and encourage each other as they hike up Scotland’s sixth highest mountain and cycle through Cairngorms National Park, with its breathtaking landscapes and tough terrain. Not only will your fitness be put to the test but you will also raise crucial funds for Barnardo’s work with the most vulnerable children across the UK.
There is the option of being part of a relay team, but if you’re hardy enough, you can enter as an individual.
From beginner’s Bronze to gruelling Gold, there is a course for everyone, as well as being a rare opportunity to test fitness levels in one of Scotland’s protected countryside areas, and feeling the thrills of the challenge in a quiet, and undisturbed setting.
“After last year’s exhilarating event and conquering the Silver trail, I’m back for more fun on the ultimate Gold trail!” revealed one of the Silver competitors. “The Cairngorms is also a great place to have it - it’s like running and cycling through a film set.
“Thanks to the Barnardo’s team for your support before, during and after the challenge, and not forgetting a thanks to the volunteers who indulged us in pasta.”
Jackie Noon, a competitor from last year’s event, said: “It was really well organised and everyone was very supportive. We found it hard going at bits but really loved our day and the breathtaking scenery.”
Join Barnardo’s events team for the energy boosting pasta party the evening before, and indulge in a celebratory barbecue and party afterwards.
